CNY2015

It's been a while since I've properly appreciated a break like this - nothing spells fatigue like work, am I right. Now it's Sunday night which means the dread of waking up at 6.30am is starting to kick in again. Don't get me wrong, work's quite fine and everyone's nice. It's just uncomfortable losing the freedom of taking an afternoon nap, the choice of going/ not going somewhere and basically doing whatever I want to do. Which really serves as a constant reminder to reconsider my future career options and see if the whole 9-5 thing really is my thing.

This really has resulted in me begging my Grandmas at any opportunity I get to matchmake me with a billionaire to spare me a lifetime of slaving away for corporations - but they keep saying no and to go work for my future. Progressive thinking, indeed.

Anyhoo, I've had a lovely CNY break jumping around and laughing with cousins and their plus ones who have been forced into being my OG because I don't have one. We are now the CHIA CLAN whether they like it or not. Also had our annual photos taken at the usual location - the 8th floor garden when halfway through my aunt asked, "Why don't we do this more often?" And we all just looked at each other and replied,
"Because we usually look like crap."
Which couldn't be more true considering the state we're usually in when we stumble into my grandma's place (read: Chia Clan Headquarters) for our Saturday night dinners.

Well we decided that the theme for our shoot this year (and really, for the past few years, and every year that we'll be taking photos at the garden for) is: SPORTY/ATHLETIC/FIT. Only because the only props and constant background is that of neighbourhood gym-ish equipment. We don't really have much of a choice.

I had both high and zero hopes for Vday this year because I left it open for a (pretty dumb) reason.

I'm just thankful though, for having amazing people in my life who would drop by to give me a rose because 'every girl should get roses on Valentine's Day', and another who'd lovingly accept me into her home when I'm all sweaty and tired and in need of food and water.

I'd never have imagined for today to have worked out like that, but I'm glad it did. Thank y'all for making this shithell of a day a good one after all.

'Will you be my valentine?', I asked.
'Of course', you replied -

Without hesitation,
Without any questions,
With a heart of love -

Adding on to a list of reasons as to why I no longer believe in promises

Mumbo jumbo

The past two weeks have been quite a blur of early mornings, rushing all over Singapore to run errands, meeting up with some of the most amazing people, hoboing at some newfound lepak places, an endless string of hopeless thoughts and the beginning of 6 months of a pretty cool internship.

I've been trying to figure out a new sort of routine to settle back into after exchange with all these new hobbies like museum visiting, running, and this keen interest in going down to Chinatown to see the decorations. I also spent a good 3h with Joshlim yesterday talking about the yesteryears which is always nice.

Bits and pieces of home everywhere and all we do is try to put it together.
