Porto

For the longest time, Portugal was always one of those "it's nice, but been there done that" sort of place. But I've found myself missing it from time to time, digging out photos, giggling at stupid moments, complaining about how 凹凸不平 the roads are until my Chinese was rudely corrected by RS, touching my belly fat every time I remember the number of thousand-calorie Francesinhas I shoved down my throat, reimagining myself walking down the beautiful streets and stopping every 5 minutes to stare at yet another set of intricately designed tiles.

Jo and I hit up Porto and Lisbon, but as we sat at the Lisbon airport waiting for our flight back to Barca, we both looked at each other and nodded in full agreement that Porto was no doubt our favourite.

Every time I wonder how I gained that much weight on exchange, I look at my food photos, remember the day I ate 6 egg tarts at one go and suddenly the world makes sense again.

We decided to take one of the boat rides so we could just sit for a bit because we'd been walking E V E R Y W H E R E. What started as a really scenic and exciting boat ride got boring pretty fast and I'm sure I actually dozed off at some point. But they gave us these tickets for complementary wine tasting at one of the many wine cellars so no I'm not complaining about that.

Our Airbnb host told us about some really cool fish market along the river (and I'm a sucker for fish markets) so we thought it'd be a good idea to head down. In the evening. What kind of fish market opens in the evening I don't even know what we were thinking.
Seriously is my brain ever on form?

Anyway we arrived all thirsty and sweaty BUT really happy because golden hour in Porto is nothing short of magical.

So we grabbed bottles of cold water and sat at the dock, bathing ourselves in that glorious golden light, listening to the waves crash, watching the sun set and trying our best to capture the moment
for
all
eternity.

With all honesty, Jo and I may have a tad too many romantic moments together but I regret nothing. Except maybe not having more wine while I was there.

Team 8

Wow so many posts in one week I must be on a roll - or just procrastinating really really badly.

Now I think it's been well established that I am 2 notches above needy and the number 1 advocate for affection so I guess I'm just going to have to live up to that again today.

Today, today -

We celebrated Cheryl's birthday at Din Tai Fung (without KW though BOOOOO you whore) - after a lot of walking into cake shops and asking each other
"is this atas enough"
"does this even come close to looking atas to you"
"okay then we get a roti prata cake"
"are you serious"
"well you tell me what she likes I've only known her for 12 weeks PLS"

We settled for a red velvet cheesecake in the end (10/10 would NOT recommend) and then had a really good lunch. (Y'know how countries have national flowers/national birds? If we had a group-food it would be xiao long baos.) Anyway, we laughed and laughed till my tummy hurt and I teared a little and my mascara ran a little as well, but we had to go eventually because #GBS.

It wasn't until like half an hour ago after Cheryl Char-grilled and I were on Telegram sending each other stupid stickers, talking about mean girls when we all said goodnight and Char-grilled sent me a bunch of bear stickers (ok just 2) and said GOODNIGHT JY MEIPING that I realised:
1) how Chinese our conversations are
2) how much I was going to miss them and their weekly nonsense

Dear goodness I am too weak a human being - but oggay thanks for being the greatest, craziest and weirdest project group mates alive for putting up with my shit and having me put up with all your crazy shit too and doing the weirdest shit together like what project group does movie nights and sleepovers and I'm just way too glad we met this sem :'''''')

I HAVE SO MUCH MORE FEELS TO SHARE but I don't want to be gross/weak/meiping sooooo

love you guys plenty and strat mag needs me now.

Week 13

Its one of those Friday nights where I'm forced to stay in because there's a make up class tmr but no one else is left in hall so I've to resort to talking to myself on this thing.

It's the final week of school and everyone's calling it bittersweet - bitter cos its all thats left of my uni life and sweet because I'm finally almost done with uni. But I have honestly never met a human more un-ready for the next phase in life so I guess the sweet bit won't be hitting me anytime soon.

Anywaaaay, I think I've said this a gazillion times though: this semester was nothing like what I thought it would be, but I couldn't be happier with the way its worked out <: Getting too lazy to synthesise proper sentences so dis is lyfe for the past few weeks in point form:

1) I've finally started driving like an actual adult (sort of)

2) Had a terrible weekend dealing with my wisdom teeth growing out so I finally had 2 taken out - with x100000 thanks to Philo for being there and holding my hand and sending me home and basically being the gr8est human alive

3) Trying the Ah Fang mookata which is.......... meh but mookata is mookata so I was happy anyway

4) Keeping up with the nightly roomie hangouts (which really means lying on Bok's bed trying to do work and failing and watching the guys stalk random people on instagram/facebook/youtube)

5) Going for that free burrito day whoop whoop. Van and I decided that since its a kiasunation it'd be wise to probably head down an hour earlier and join the queue. Buuuuuuuttttt I ended up being like the second at the store so............. glad my Singaporeaness has kicked in.....?

6) Being done with all the burden projects which means that the PowerPoint app on my Mac is officially leaving the dock for a long, long, long time.

7) Heading for my first AC

8) Playing a whole lot more basketball than my knees really allow me to

9) Trying the Godiva soft serve that is incredibly amazing????????? Eugh I need one now.

10) Having the cutest movie night ever because Kang Wei suggested we have an exam welfare pack exchange, secret santa style --- which is a lot of love from a representative of Team 8A thank you thank you. But the best part was RS realising that he made a $50 pack instead of a $15 one instead hahahahahahahhahahhah. No points for guessing who went home with $50 worth of food that night KEKEKEKEKEKE.

Ok I done

I think some of the best nights are made of staying in, snuggles, movies, KFC and a bottle of wine.
